Hyderabad|India|February'2009:
The Indian School of Business (ISB) is conducting a conference on the
theme From Bottleneck to Catalysts of Entrepreneurship: Policies for
Growth in collaboration with the RAND Corporation in the U.S.
The main objective of the Wadhwani Center for Entrepreneurship Development
at ISB is to help create an effective ecosystem for broad based
entrepreneurial development in India. Among other partnerships we
currently have, ISB in partnership with RAND Corporation in the US is
conducting joint research on entrepreneurial policies in India and on how
to realign policies supporting entrepreneurs in India; the findings of
which will be presented in the conference.
The RAND Corporation is a nonprofit global policy think tank working with
several governments, private foundations, international organizations, and
commercial organizations across the world. The ISB-RAND Conference on
Entrepreneurship is a unique opportunity that facilitates entrepreneurship
deliberative discussion by bringing entrepreneurs, academia and policy
makers together to debate and discuss entrepreneurial policies in India.
We believe that, a country's economic policy environment must be favorable
for organizations to achieve efficiencies in today's global market.
Policies framed to support certain economic issues in the past may not be
relevant today or may not be applicable to entrepreneurs today. On the
other hand, there might be certain policies that are working very well in
certain industries. How supportive is the ecosystem in India - do
investors, the government, and society provide for a foundation on which
entrepreneurs can grow and flourish? As a precursor to the conference, we
are having an online forum "Catalyst" for entrepreneurship deliberative
discussion.
'Catalyst' asks you to question the present policies - question what
encourages and what discourages entrepreneurs in their industry. Log on,
discuss and debate on
www.isb.edu/wced/isb-randconference This
forum brings policy makers, industry, academia and entrepreneurs together
to debate and evolve an effective, pragmatic and comprehensive set of
policy recommendations to promote entrepreneurship in India. We believe
that education as well as the infrastructure ecosystem, aided by
appropriate policies, can generate the next wave of great entrepreneurial
activity in India.
This conference will be concentrating on these two industry segments, that
is;
.Entrepreneurship in effective Infrastructure Utilization - Policy
Framework
.Entrepreneurship India's Educational Sector - Policy Framework
This Conference is organized by the 'The Indian School of Business' which
promotes Entrepreneurship in India through 'The Wadhwani Center for
Entrepreneurship Development'.
