Vintage
Car Rally & Exhibition held in City

Hyderabad|India|March'2009:
GMR Hyderabad
International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) and Novotel
Hyderabad Airport, in association with the
Heritage Car Club of Andhra Pradesh (HCCAP) played
host to a Vintage Car Rally and Exhibition in city
at the Novotel Hyderabad Airport, located just
three kilometers away from the Rajiv Gandhi
International Airport (RGIA).
Over 40 cars from the vintage era which have been
passionately maintained by their owners,
participated in the display, and later were
flagged off on a long drive from the hotel onto
the new 4 lane highway to Bangalore, returning to
the hotel by 4 pm.
Speaking about the rally Mr. A. Viswanath, Chief
Commercial Officer of GHIAL said, “We are very
happy to associate with this event. The passionate
car owners have spent a lot of time and money to
get their cars ready for such events. We plan to
make this an international event in the coming
years.
“We want to make the airport a leisure
destination, and have many more such events lined
up in the coming months. Next Sunday will see the
hosting of a “Jeep Thrills” Event which is for 4x4
wheel drive vehicles only,” Mr.Viswanath added.
“Novotel Hyderabad Airport teamwere delighted to
host the rally and the display of these classic
cars on the hotel premises. These vintage cars
provided a unique contrast to this new and
contemporary international hotel”, said Mr. Simon
Jinks, General Manager, Novotel Hyderabad Airport.
The hotel provided a special 20 per cent discount
on food and beverages, at their restaurants, The
Square and Haldi, exclusively for visitors at the
Vintage Car Rally.
Speaking on the occasion Dr.I.Venkat Rao President
of HCCAP said, “Vintage events are different from
other forms of motorsport. To a layman, these cars
may not count much. But for a car conservator,
they create an entirely different world, a world
of automobile legacy, a world of vintage and
classic cars, which have been the heartthrobs for
their owners of not only the bygone era but also
those who cherish them even today as a proud
possession”.
