hief Minister K.Rosaiah assured all possible help
to the organizers of the World Newspaper Congress-2009 which is being held
from 30th November to 3rd December at HICC, Madhapur, Hyderabad.
He was chairing the coordination meeting along with the Minister for
Information & Public Relations, Tourism & Culture Dr.J.Geetha Reddy and
the representatives of the organizers and the line departments concerned,
on the arrangements to be made and extend support to organize the
prestigious international event at Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister directed all the officers concerned to review and plan
the arrangements meticulously at their level in close coordination with
the organizers once again and make the event a grand success.
It is for the first time that the World Association of Newspapers (WAN)
Congress is coming to South Asia and the event is being held for the first
time in India at Hyderabad in which around 1800 delegates from all over
the world covering almost all the countries will be participating in the
event.
H.E. the President of India, Smt.Prathiba Patil will participate and
address the Joint sessions of 66 World Newspapers Congress and 16th World
Editors Forum on 1st December, 2009.
Expressing happiness over the conduct of the event at Hyderabad, the Chief
Minister said that this a major opportunity for projecting India and
particularly showcasing the State of Andrha Pradesh and the City of
Hyderabad as prime destination for Investment and Tourism.
He declared Information and Public Relations Department as a Nodal Agency
for organizing the event and help the organizers in all respects.
Earlier, the Officials briefed the Chief Minister at length in respect of
Security arrangements, Traffic clearance, Travel Plan visit to tourist
places, sanitation, road repairs and beautification etc.

meeting.
World Association of Newspapers was founded in 1948 with 76 National
Newspapers all over the world as members. World Newspaper Congress is a
platform to exchange ideas with owners of Newspapers, Editors and
Journalists from all over the world. With the objectives of defending and
promoting press freedom by various means, safeguarding the ethical &
economic interests of newspapers, promoting cooperation among members,
fostering communications and contacts between newspaper executives,
training programs and R&D activities etc.
The World Newspaper Congress will have a combination of three events
namely (1) The World Newspaper Congress attended by leading Newspaper
publishers (2) The World Editors Forum extended by Senior Journalists &
Editors (3) Info Services Expo-exhibition where the suppliers to the
Newspaper Industry exhibit their products and services like newsprint
suppliers, Ink manufacturers, news agencies, content providers, machinery
manufacturers, software and technology solution providers etc.
