Towards a Cleaner and Greener Hyderabad

Hyderabad|India|June'2010: With the ice melting
in Siachen glacier, Lakshadweep Islands slowly sinking, constantly
changing patterns of Monsoons and so many other things which we can’t take
control of, we feel helpless.
Breathe India and Great Hyderabad Adventure Club GHAC have come together
to take action on a serious cause affecting our city, nation and the
world, global warming.
Humans are responsible for the current state of the degrading environment
and cannot wait for some miracle to happen to save us from the global
warming effects. To counter the global warming effects members of Breathe
and GHAC are planting more trees. Over the past week they have cleaned up
and leveled an area in A.S. Rao Nagar, Hyderabad to keep it plastic free
and ready to plant trees. They further planted thirty 4-5 year old trees
on Sunday 13th June 2010 and campaigned about the program for keeping up
the place in the neighborhood.
The Trees will have rapid growth in mere 6 months and within 2 years each
of them would be able to give a shade to at least 10 people. It was a
first of its kind plantation program in the city of Hyderabad where 4-5
year old trees were planted. “Arun Raj” who is an organizer with Breathe
and GHAC says that we would like to create many such Breathe Zones
throughout the city and those who would like to have a Breathe Zone in
their area may approach us and we will come together to honour the cause.
Members who joined hands in this Endeavor take pride in creating this
first Breathe zone that would indeed give fresh and clean air to the
coming many generations. They are thriving hard to add the green cover to
a Andhra Pradesh State which has only 18% of the land under tree cover.
Further the members have plans of planting 10,000 Trees this Monsoon in
the city itself.
“Breathe India” is an initiative by CEPCE (www.cepceindia.org) to provoke
a thought for a greener and cleaner India..
GHAC www.ghac.in is a activity club in Hyderabad the promotes adventure
and care for the environment
