Hyderabad to be
central events venue for German exhibition
Hyderabad|India|November'2010:
The Consul General
of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chennai, Mr. Hans-Burkhard
Sauerteig,described Hyderabad as a fast expanding and developing World
Class City. He said Hyderabad is among 20 World Class Cities which will
see marvelous development in the days to come. Hence he said Germany has
selected Hyderabad as one of the venue for an Exhibition next year. The
German Consul General met Chief Minister Dr. K. Rosaiah at Secretariat
last month in
this regard. Dr Rosaiah assured all support and assistance to the German
exhibition.
The Consul General told the Chief Minister that to mark the 60th
anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with India,
Germany is presently preparing a German Year in India. With a huge
diversity of events, 'Germany and India 2011-2012' will showcase the
entire spectrum of cooperation with India--politics, business, culture,
education, science and research---under the overarching theme 'StadtRaume---CitySpaces'.
'Germany and India 2011-2012' is scheduled from autumn 2011 to autumn
2012.
He said "Germany and India work together as partners, on the basis of
mutual trust and shared values, to meet future challenges. We intend to
extend and intensify long-term cooperation based on partnership in all
fields. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations and the German Foreign
Ministry on 18th October 2010 signed a Memorandum of Understanding to
facilitate the realisation of this project.
The Consul General said "we are planning central events in Hyderabad.
There will be exhibitions, symposia, congresses, trade fairs, cultural
events etc. A core element and special added value is a Mobile Unit which
will host the main events. This mobile event unit is conceived as an
interactive space where presentations from the fields of business,
culture, science, education and research will be made. The unit will
travel to the major cities in the country and will be the 'face' of
Germany and India 2011-2012". The Chief Minister said the State Government
will make all facilities available for the all important exhibition.
