Dasha-Avataara, a multi-art form presentation by Anya showcased different
stages of evolution using the story of Dasha-Avataara, highlighting the
unique philosophical underpinnings of each of the ten stages. A
collaboration of four different media – Musician Anasuya, Dancer Anupama,
Sand-artist Kanth Risa and Storyteller Deepa Kiran had the 500 plus
audience spellbound. It offered a unique experience of art through sound,
sight, movement of body, slithering of sand, captivating words, music and
more significantly through the magic that happened when all these came
together!
Each Avatara was introduced by bringing the context and rationale for the
Avatara’s appearance. The legendary stories were unraveled through the
different media ending with the highlighting that particular philosophy
that the Avatara symbolized. Taking on from here was storytelling of small
story which reflected the same philosophy that the Avatara denoted. A
musical note and rendering of a relevant couplet concluded each section of
the Avatara. The ten avataara presented in the multi-artform were Matsya,
Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parashurama, Rama, Krishna, Buddha and
Kalki.
The audience burst into claps at the ending of each story of the
Dasha-Avataara performance. While the audience greeted the Sand art by
Kanth Risa with claps at the completion the artworks, it was spellbound in
adoration when Storyteller Deepa Kiran spoke, Dancer Anupama Kylash and
Vocalist Anasuya performed. The accompanying artists were Renuka Prasad on
