Hyderabad|India|November'2008:
Paddyzz™, the retail chain of exclusive rice outlets launched Special Retail Rice Counter for sale of Sona Masori Rice at Rs.20/- per kg here at its outlet at Dilsukhnagar, Hyderabad. Mr. K. Rosaiah, Honourable Minister for Finance, Government of Andhra Pradesh inaugurated the same. Mr. Devireddy Sudhir Reddy, General Secretary - AP Congress Committee was the Guest of Honour for the launch function. Mr. B. Janardhan, Founder - Poojitha Paraboiled Rice Mill which runs Paddyzz outlets, said that Paddyzz has taken up this initiative inspired by the call given by the Honourable Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and to provide succour to the people reeling under the price rise of essential commodities.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Janardhan said that with the prices of essential commodities refusing to retreat, the going has become especially tough for middle class families who cannot claim the Rs.2-a-kilo rice and are not affluent enough to buy rice from the open market. Though the Civil Supplies Department has issued a circular on October 20 that superfine quality rice cannot be sold at prices higher than Rs 20 a kg in the twin cities, many retailers are selling rice at the old prices. Mr. Janardhan hailed the steps taken by the government to control the price of rice and making it within reach for the middle class. He assured that Paddyzz will provide superfine quality Sona Masori rice at its outlets in Ashoknagar and Dilsukhnagar at Rs.20 a kg.

Mr. Janardhan added that there is no limit for the number of kgs of rice to be sold to each customer (at Rs.20/- per kg). He urged people to utilise the opportunity and benefit from it.

Rice is one of the leading food crops in the world and many different types of rice are consumed. Quality preferences in various countries and regions are diverse. As much as 70% of the world’s population consume rice every day.
