The
International Institute of Information Technology
(formerly Indian Institute of Information Technology),
Hyderabad is an autonomous, self-supporting
institution started in 1998 with seed support from the
Government of Andhra Pradesh. A major goal of IIIT is
to impart a uniquely broad and interdisciplinary IT
education of the highest academic quality. This is
achieved through an integrated curriculum that
consists of a highly diverse set of IT courses,
interdisciplinary IT research projects, day-to-day
interaction with industry, preparation in
entrepreneurship and personality development courses.

facilitation and support of the government. The
institute is designed to play the role that
Stanford University plays in the Silicon
Valley.
Research centres aim at developing
IT for specific problems provide students with
opportunities for involvement in IT problem solving
and innovation. Major national and international IT
companies are actively involved in IIIT's academic
programmes through their corporate schools on the
campus. These include IBM,Signal Tree, Motorola,
Oracle and Satyam.
Located in Hyderabad, the future
Silicon Valley of India, the Institute combines the
freedom of an academic institution with the strength
of the corporate sector. It enjoys the locational
advantage of being close to the HI-TEC City (a centre
housing software development centres of companies like
Microsoft, Oracle, Motorola, Infosys and GE Capital)
and the presence of IT majors from across the globe
right on the campus through their schools and research
centres.
The Institute is fully residential and is situated
on a clean and green campus of sixty-two acres. The
academic buildings house the research centres,
corporate schools, library, lecture halls, tutorial
rooms, computer and electronics laboratories and
offices of the faculty and administration. B.Tech.
first year students are provided sharing
accommodation in the hostel. All other students are
provided with individual rooms. The hostels have
wireless Internet access. In addition there are 50
executive rooms and an air conditioned guest house.
The institute has a wireless campus.
ACADEMIC
PROGRAMMES
The Institute selects students for the
Undergraduate Programmes through the All India
Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE).
Selections for the Postgraduate Programmes are
based on an all India entrance examination
conducted by IIIT in several major cities in the
country in May and the application deadline is in
February/March. Applications for the research
programmes are considered round the year. The
