PMO hails AP support to IT/ITES sector
Govt determined to protect industries in State:C

Hyderabad|India|January'2010: The Prime Minister's Office appreciated the efforts made by the Government of Andhra Pradesh to help safeguard the IT & ITES companies operating from the State in the prevailing situation. The Chief Minister K Rosaiah was informed by the Chief Secretary S.V. Prasad about the appreciation letter from the Government of India.

In a letter to the Chief Secretary S. V. Prasad, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister, T.K.A.Nair said "Let me hope that the efforts being made by the State Government would ensure that the industry continues to function smoothly. We are happy that A.P.is a stable State and is in the forefront in fast industrialization and economic development".

Sri Som Mittal, President, NASSCOM appreciated the State Government's efforts to help safeguard the IT & ITES companies operating from Andhra Pradesh in the prevailing situation".

While interacting with the Chief Secretary and other officials on the over all situation in particular to the industrial climate in the State, the Chief Minister K Rosaiah said that the Government of Andhra Pradesh is determined to continue its efforts to give full protection and support to all the industries, trade and business including that of IT & ITES and will leave no stone unturned in these efforts . The State Government is constantly monitoring the situation on a day to day basis and is taking necessary action.

Meanwhile NASSCOM President Som Mittal in a letter to the Prime Minister's Office explained that the National Association of Software and Service Companies approached the Andhra Pradesh Government and highlighted the adverse impact on the industry due to the prevailing situation in Andhra Pradesh. A team of senior people from IT & ITES industry met Chief Minister K.Rosaiah on 2nd Jan. 2010. The meetings were extremely positive and the Chief Minister assured that he would safeguard the economic interests of industry and Andhra Pradesh.

The Chief Minister, the letter said, has promised complete support to protect the IT & ITES industry. The government has nominated Mr. T.Krishna Prasad, IPS, IG of Police (Police Computer Services) to be the single point of contact for the industry. He is setting up a centralised web site on the Govt. of AP website where all communications can be posted. A single window communication (24x7) channel and a single contact number for the industry members of Andhra Pradesh are being made available shortly.

Apart from the above, Government of Andhra Pradesh has also asked Commissioner of Police at Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Cyberabad to take the following steps: Post Police personnel round the clock in the IT layouts to avoid any untoward incidents, Provide perimeter patrolling by armed police, Erect road barricades at the entrance points of IT layouts and Keep a strict vigil and security surveillance in the IT layouts. The PMO office expressed satisfaction over the arrangements.
