3 Day International Conference on
“Socio Cultural Approaches to Translation: Indian and European
Perspectives in City
Hyderabad|India|February'2010: The Centre for Study of Foreign
Languages, School of Humanities, University of Hyderabad is organizing a
Three-Day International Conference on “Socio Cultural Approaches to
Translation: Indian and European Perspectives” 10-12 February, 2010
jointly with the Universite de Bretagne-Sud, France and in collaboration
with the National Translation Mission (NTM), CIIL, Mysore.
Translation plays key role in bringing people together and thus promoting
social, cultural, economic and trade relations between nations across
globe. The Government of India has recently accorded industry status to
Translation by establishing National Translation Mission (NTM) on the
basis of the recommendations of the National Knowledge Commission (NKC).
Hence, the conference has already attracted the attention of different
International and National Institutions, well-known scholars and reputed
organizations who are actively involved in manual as well as machine
translation.
The information about the conference has been put up in important websites
across globe which tells the significance and popularity of this
International event. Hence, the Conference will be attended by eminent
scholars from USA, UK, Japan, Italy, Belgium, Portuguese, Spain, France

The Coordinator of the Conference are Prof. J. Prabhakara Rao from
